Nexora Recon vs QuickBooks Online's built-in reconcile, side by side
QuickBooks Online already reconciles, and on some plans it now reads the statement for you. So where does a separate tool fit? Here's an honest side-by-side, written by the team that makes Nexora Recon.
The short answer
QuickBooks Online's reconcile is built for one company file at a time, and its AI-powered version is only on Plus, Advanced and Intuit Enterprise Suite. Nexora Recon is built for a firm's whole client list: every client's status in one dashboard, the exact statements still missing, clients emailed for them, and the same line-by-line check on every QuickBooks Online plan. Most firms use both: Nexora Recon does the comparison work across clients, and QuickBooks remains the system of record.

Why the plan difference matters to a firm
A firm's client list is rarely all on one plan. At Marketium, the accounting firm Nexora Recon was built with, roughly 4 in 10 client companies are on Simple Start or Essentials. If the assisted reconcile is only available on Plus and above, the firm ends up with two processes, or asks clients to upgrade. Nexora Recon applies the same check to every client, for $19 a month per company, which is less than upgrading a client to Plus.
Where the time goes with 40 clients
With one company, the reconcile screen is fine. With 40, the time is spent around it: finding out which accounts are behind, asking clients for statements, waiting, and recording what's missing one entry at a time. That's the work a cross-client tool takes over, and it's the part a single-company screen can't see.
Using both together
- Nexora Recon reads each statement and checks every line against the books, for every client.
- Your team approves the suggested entries for what's missing, and matches what's already there.
- QuickBooks Online stays the system of record, with its reconciliation history and reports.
